Support our plan for COP UK
Our Scottish Future is calling for a COP UK to be staged within the next 12 months so that the UK Government and the devolved governments can coordinate the historic step-change to a carbon neutral Britain.
We will only achieve our goals if we work together to drive the green revolution.
COP26 demonstrated once again that we cannot make change happen in the world without making it together.
We must ensure that this legacy is kept alive on our own shores over the coming months. That’s why we’re calling for a COP UK to:
- Agree common regulatory pathways
- Distribute resources fairly, to support a fair transition across the UK
Bring together devolved authorities and nations, so that we can commit individually and collectively to carbon targets
Our call for COP UK is supported by former Scottish Green party leader Robin Harper and two of England’s metro mayors, Metro Mayor of Liverpool City Region Steve Rotherham and the Mayor of South Yorkshire Dan Jarvis, who are urging UK Ministers to bring together politicians from across the nation to agree a joined-up plan to slash emissions.

None of the nations of the United Kingdom are doing enough to reduce carbon emissions. All of us will only achieve our goals if we work in step – by bringing together expertise, finance, resources and a customer base to drive the green revolution.
Each government may choose different paths as they move to a green economy, but their success relies upon working with each other.
At COP26, the UK’s political leaders unanimously backed global cooperation in the struggle against global warming. They should now support UK cooperation too, to ensure our nation meets it obligations and acts as an environmental standard-bearer for the world.
